The problem
The frustration often suffered by enthusiastic new EP pilots desperately trying to get through the pilot rating system to CP is almost palpable. If it is not the "good old" British weather that causes delay after delay it is the problem of finding a school that isn't booked solid, trying to shift their backlog of students.
The answer
We offer CP/Novice completion courses to EP rated pilots, here at La Motte du Caire, in the Alpes de Haute Provence where the sun shines most of the time. Once you have completed all the required tasks you can sit your CP/Novice exam on the spot. We have a safe, top landable site that is perfect for completing all the manoeuvers needed including your deflations, slow flying and spot landings. We are a BHPA school operated by Senior instructors with years of alpine flying experience, so you can be sure that the instruction you receive will be of the highest quality available.
We use radio communications to facilitate "realtime" instruction and video for briefing and debriefing students - you can even take a video copy home with you if you wish.

Once you have achieved the CP/Novice level we continue flying with any remaining time, to ensure that you gain as much airtime as possible during your stay with us. An average EP pilot, in a week might normally expect to get about 5 - 10 hours of soaring, depending, of course upon the individual pilots ability and the prevailing conditions. How long will it take for you to get that much soaring in the UK?

- 1 Week £305.00 (06 day course)
- 2 Weeks £410.00 (13 day course)
- Any additional days on a pro rata basis
- Day Clinic £60.00 per day
- Canopy hire is available 92 Euro's per week, 138 Euro's two weeks
- Radio hire is available 55 Euro's per week. New radios for sale from £105
2m Radio is obligatory. (We have radios available for rental and/or purchase)
When can I come? ....
AccommodationAny time! Our courses run all the time so you can book when it suits you. Most people visit between March and October but conditions in January and February are often excellent also.
Various types of local accommodation is available, from camping facilities approximately £5 per day, through to gîte/pension/hotel from approximately £20 per room per day. We, ourselves, can offer shared accommodation Dinner, Bed & Breakfast (including wine) at 35 Euro's per night per person, - vegetarians catered for! We have Video and Satellite Television for your entertainment. Or we can make reservations on your behalf with other accommodation suppliers. There is a swimming pool, tennis court, running track, lakes etc. in the area. There's always lots of fêtes, boules, open air concerts, bars for evening entertainment.
Getting here
It couldn't be simpler - by car we're an 8-9 hour drive from the channel ports. EasyJet, B.A, or Virgin Express provide a very cheap and frequent service to Nice airport from regional airports via Luton, Heathrow or Gatwick. Then you take the scenic railway to Digne from where we provide a pickup service. Marseille is the nearest airport and is also well served daily by inexpensive and frequent flights. Marseille arrivals (Buzz Airways) take the rapid 1½ hour bus or train service to Sisteron where we also provide pickup. Alternatively come by train to Gap using Eurostar.
