Rolwaling Paragliding Trek - fly Parchamo Peak
6273mA unique opportunity to take part in a paragliding
fly/trek through the Rolwaling area of Nepal, one of the most spectacular
regions in the Himalaya. The views obtained during the trek are amongst the
finest in the world, remote, rugged and unforgettable. A 20 day Paragliding
adventure returning to Kathmandu by twin otter STOL aircraft from
Lukla.
We include a guided
ascent of Parchamo Peak. Set high above the Teshi Lapsa pass, this peak is one
of the more accessible 6000 metre peaks currently available to groups such as
ours. Set close to the Tibetan border the view from the summit of Parchamo has
to be seen to be believed. The mountain is graded as easy to climb i.e.
requires the use of ropes, crampons and ice axe, but is within the capabilities
of most fit hillwalkers. The trip is a must for paraglider pilots wishing to
experience the thrill of Himalayan flying. The para-trek allows for plenty of
paragliding from the ridges and passes en route. The group will be accompanied
by experienced British Senior Paragliding Instructors/mountaineers and one of
our experienced English speaking Nepalese Mountaineering Association Guides.
Paraglider pilots can expect to fly a great deal during this journey in to the
heart of the Himalayas. For the really adventurous we can guide you to the
summit of this 6000m glaciated peak from where you can make a high altitude
flight to the yak pastures below.
Parchamo
Ascent Our base camp will be situated on a pass beneath our
peak at an altitude of about 5600m. We will establish our high camp from here
whilst acclimatising. We will leave high camp for the summit at about 02.00
a.m. in the morning. The going is initially fairly easy steepening briefly
before the summit ridge is reached.
T he
Flight We would expect to have arrived on the summit by 10am at
the latest leaving plenty of time to make the flight. Previously the take off
area has been a good slope with no particular difficulty, though it does change
from year to year as the snow depth varies.

Return to
Kathmandu We return to the STOL airfield at Lukla by way of
Namche Bazaar before taking an early morning scenic flight back to the city of
Kathmandu. All being well we should be enjoying the luxury of a hot shower at
our hotel by lunchtime ready for the end of trip meal at the famous "Rum
Doodle" restaurant. Those with time might want to visit Pokhara for some more
thermal flying and we are happy to provide free transportation onward from
Kathmandu.
